Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year!
We are excited to welcome your child to another year of EXCELLENCE at EDUPRIZE. I am excited to introduce Mr. Steve Richie, our Assistant Principal and Brett Nauta, our new Dean of Students/Athletic Director. Both of these gentlemen come highly recommended and will be a positive addition to EDUPRIZE. Please take some time as we start our new school year to introduce yourself to our new leaders.
Another exciting announcement is a new Diploma Program for K-6 Students. Each quarter the students will be able to earn a “degree” by accomplishing a grade level specific set of criteria. The expectations will include academic, behavior and attendance tasks. In addition, as a way to highlight continuous education, each classroom will represent a college. There will be a College Day during the week where the students can wear their college colors and a college lanyard displaying pins that they have earned. More information will be available on Curriculum Nights which will be held the first few weeks of school.
We are proud to announce for our PM Students only, a Sports Program from 10:00-11:00. Information will be available at Open House.
After school activities for all schedules in grades 1-6 are being organized. Art, sports and science activities are included. Watch for more details to be available as we start the new school year.
The Open House schedule is posted on our website. Please note the times stated are suggested time to help alleviate traffic congestion. Teachers will be in their classrooms all day, except for a lunch break if you are unable to come at the listed time. After 4:00 PM, rooms will be open and Administration will be available, but teachers may not be present.
Join us for our annual “Family Picnic” on Friday, August 21st. Bring your favorite picnic dinner, meet classmates, old friends and enjoy some fun and games.
Hi, my name is Steve Richie and I am excited to join the EDUPRIZE family. I graduated from Drake University with a degree in Secondary Education, and taught in the classroom for six years. I earned my master’s degree in Education Administration from Grand Canyon University in 2008 and was most recently Assistant Principal in Scottsdale. I am a firm believer that children can accomplish absolutely amazing feats when they set their minds to a goal, have proper supports, and remain committed. They win Olympic gold medals, they become chess champions, they save lives! In many ways school is their home away from home, so I am committed to fostering positive culture of respect and responsibility. I believe you can’t give a kid too much attention, so at our school students will receive praise and recognition on a daily basis, building their self-confidence on their path to pursuing their aspirations. When I’m not at school, I enjoy playing with my kids, watching movies, and getting outdoors.
My name is Brett Nauta and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join the EDUPRIZE family. I am originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated from Grand Valley State University with a degree in K-12 Physical Education. Four years ago, I decided to move to Arizona to continue my teaching career and also pursued my Masters in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. I have coached a variety of sports throughout college and my teaching career and love the impact that sports can have on youth. I also understand the impact a quality educational experience can have on our children and am committed to being a part of excellence here at EDUPRIZE. Every student should feel valued and be in a position to achieve their own personal level of success on a daily basis. In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, hiking, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers!
