Parent University – Eureka Math
It’s not enough for students to know the process for solving a problem; they need to understand why that process works so they can use it anytime. Eureka Math builds students’ knowledge logically to help them achieve deep understanding. While this approach is unfamiliar to those of us who grew up memorizing mathematical facts and formulas, it has been tested and proven to be the most successful method in the world. At Parent University, our district curriculum coach, Terri Lymer, will give an overview of the program, provide some specific examples, and offer practical guidance to parents.

Scholastic Achievement Awards
San Tan Valley – The San Tan Valley Chamber of Commerce is proud to sponsor, in partnership with the San Tan Valley Think Tank, the 6th Annual Scholastic Achievement Awards April 20, 2015 starting at 6:30 PM with registration/check-in beginning at 6:00 PM at the Central Arizona College San Tan Valley Campus located at 3736 E. Bella Vista Rd. San Tan Valley, AZ 85143. The Scholastic Achievement event was created to recognize outstanding students and educators in grades K-8. This year the event will recognize 49 students and 42 educators that represent Florence Unified School District, Coolidge Unified School District, J.O. Combs Unified School District and Eduprize. In addition to recognizing the educational accomplishments the Central Arizona College Promise for the Future program will be featured. Promise for the Future is a program designed to encourage students who reside in Pinal County to stay in high school, graduate with a 2.75 grade point average and participate in 20 hours of community service. Students along with their parents/guardian sign a contract of commitment during the students’ eighth grade year. Students graduating from a Pinal County high school, who have fulfilled the requirements of the Promise for the Future contract, will be eligible for the Promise for the Future Scholarship. This scholarship entitles them to free tuition to any Central Arizona College campus for up to four consecutive semesters. The Scholastic Achievement Awards are open to the public, and we encourage the community to participate by supporting these outstanding students and educators.
