17-18 Welcome Back Gilbert PreK – 6th

Welcome Back Letters

Dear Parents of PreK-6 Students,

Welcome to the 2017-18 School Year!  Thank you all for selecting an outstanding education at EDUPRIZE. Our award-winning staff has a wonderful year planned and we can’t wait to get started.  In preparation for the new beginnings, there are a few things I would like to bring to your attention so that we are all ready to go on Wednesday, July 26th.

  • For your convenience, all Open House forms, which includes Emergency Documents, are online.  Please fill out all forms online, print and bring them with you to Open House.  Our website is www.eduprizeschools.net.
  • Open House is Monday July 24th.  Teachers will be available from 8:00 – 4:00, but specific times are set aside for each teacher to help facilitate the flow of traffic.  Attend your assigned time if you are able, but if not, join us at a time that works for your family. All times are posted on the website.
  • The first day of school is Wednesday, July 26th and all students need to be on time and present for the first full day of school.
  • You will receive carpool information at Open House; please review it thoroughly!
  • All of our teachers are incredible and we are very pleased that nearly all of our teachers this year are returning teachers from last year!  If your child is placed with a new teacher or one you don’t know, please do not ask for a room change.  Give it time and you will discover yet another extraordinary EDUPRIZE teacher!
  • We were delighted by the positive response to the Degree Program this year and will be continuing the program for the 2017-18 school year.  Each quarter the students will be able to earn a “degree” by accomplishing a grade level specific set of criteria.  The expectations will include academic, behavior and attendance tasks.  In addition, as a way to highlight continuous education, each classroom will represent a college.  Each Monday, we will have a College Day where the students can wear their college colors and a college lanyard displaying pins that they have earned.  As a part of Curriculum Nights, during the first few weeks of school year, we will provide you with additional information.

I look forward to seeing you all at Open House on the July 24th!

Sincerely,

Tom Swaninger
Elementary Principal

My name is Robin Yeargain and I am so blessed to be a part of the EDUPRIZE community for my eleventh year. I grew up in many different states, but in 6th grade my family decided Arizona was going to be our permanent home. I graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Bilingual Education and then earned my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University. I taught 15 years in Scottsdale at Hohokam Elementary as a K-6 ESL teacher, and then moved over to EDUPRIZE for 9 years teaching third and fourth grade students. Last year was my first year as Dean. I am happy to return in my position this year, getting to know, support and guide students in the elementary years. Making connections with students is my passion!  I love to foster learning, whether it is in reading, writing, being a kid of character or how to interact with others and be a good friend. My heart is with and for the kids, always! I truly love every aspect of EDUPRIZE, from the campus to the amazing teachers to the conscientious leaders and of course, to the most incredible families ever! I am thankful to be a part of EDUPRIZE and I look forward to another successful year of academic and personal growth for all!

Sincerely,

Robin Yeargain
Dean of Students
